Forrai-Waswo Wedding, November 16, 1957

Handwritten invitation to the wedding. The handwriting is of my mother, Norma.

Formal Wedding announcement.

From the Milwaukee Sentinel, November 10, 1957.

Some things never change, as in the misspelling of the FORRAI's last name!

This was my father's first marriage. He was introduced to my mother by my Grand Uncle, Albert 'Abby' Reichardt. This was my mother's second marriage. She divorced her first husband, because of the physical violence against her. My mother was ahead of her time, a divorced woman in the 1950's was considered a shameful state.

This is one of the few photographs that I have of my Maternal Grand Uncle and Aunt. It was taken on the front porch of their home on Grant Blvd in Milwaukee, WI. Unfortunately, they were estranged from their adopted son Paul. He moved to California, and they did not see much of their granddaughter. Uncle Abby passed away in 1959 at age 73 and Aunt Alma passed away in 1966 at age 69.

I have not been able to find any additional information on Paul Reichardt. My mother and Paul spent much time together in their youth as the families were very close. My mother was heartbroken over the estrangement.

Alma Reichardt and Holly

Subject: Alma Reichardt (age: about 53) and her granddaughter, Holly.
Date: 1950's.
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Occasion: Unknown.
Photographer: Unknown.
Relationship to me: Maternal Grand Aunt.

I have very little information regarding this photograph. Once my mother retired, she went through boxes of photographs and created historical photo albums. She made one for myself and one for my brother. I am posting and commenting on the photographs from this album.

Photographed at the Reichardt's home, located 2800 W. Grant Blvd. Milwaukee, WI.

Albert(Abby) and Alma were unable to conceive. They adopted a boy, and their son's name was Paul Albert (b: 1926- d: 1997). Once Paul was an adult, there was animosity between him and his parents. Paul married and had one child named Holly. Paul left Wisconsin and moved to California. He and his family were estranged from the rest of the family. I have very limited information about Paul and Holly.

Paul was five years older than my mother Norma. They grew up together and my mother had many happy memories about Paul. I think next to Paul's parents, my mother took the estrangement the hardest. She really missed sharing their adult life together as they were so close growing up.

Walter Moeller and family

Subjects: Margaret and Walter Moeller (age 40) and family.
Date: early 1950's.
Occasion: Unknown.
Location: California.
Photographer: Unknown.
Relationship to me: Maternal 1st cousin 1x removed.

I have very little information regarding this photograph. Once my mother retired, she went through boxes of photographs and created historical photo albums. She made one for myself and one for my brother. I am posting and commenting on the photographs from this album.

Walter Ernest Moeller was born April 17, 1910. His parents were William Moeller and Minnie Wihelmina Waswo Moeller. He was married to Margaret Webster (Birth: June 3, 1917; Death: January 9, 2009 in Lake Isabella, California) in 1937 in Chicago, IL.  They had three children. From the photograph the child on the far left was Phillip Frederick Moeller, David William Moeller (Birth: December 16, 1949 in Chicago, IL; Death: July 17, 2004 in California) and Elaine Moeller. Walter passed away on October 25, 1985.

Walter moved from Illinois to California where he worked in the motion picture industry as an artist. Margaret was very good at keeping in touch with the family. Margaret and my parents were in constant correspondence for as long as I can remember. Margaret lived a long and wonderful life and passed away at age 91.
